The 2024 European elections are taking place this week, giving around 360 million Europeans the right to vote for their representatives in the European Parliament. This is a critical opportunity to let future members of the European Parliament know citizens want action against harmful endocrine disrupting chemicals. In this blog, we explain the EU elections, how to participate, and the resources EDC-Free Europe campaign partners have made available.
What are the European elections?
The European elections in 2024 will take place from Thursday to Sunday, 6 – 9 June 2024. If you are an EU citizen, you have the right to vote in these elections.
European elections are held every five years to elect your representatives in the European Parliament, the world’s only directly elected transnational assembly. These representatives can share and decide on new EU legislation, which includes measures to better protect health and the environment against harmful chemicals.
How can I vote in the European elections?
Each EU country picks an election day from Thursday to Sunday 6 – 9 June 2024. You can find out more information on how and when to vote in your country here.
Resources and tools from EDC-Free Europe partners
The European elections are a key opportunity to call on future members of the European Parliament to protect people’s health and the environment against harmful endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Ahead of the elections, EDC-Free Europe launched a new infographic (available in English, Spanish, German, Swedish, Italian, Danish, Portuguese or Dutch) and a social media toolkit to call for strong EU laws to minimize and ultimately end people’s exposure to endocrine disruptors.
