In August 2021, the European Commission launched a public consultation to invite comments on its plans to review the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulation. This was the first step towards a targeted revision of the CLP rules, which set out how the EU classifies substances which are hazardous and how to communicate those hazards to consumers.
Thirteen EDC-Free Europe coalition partners submitted their comments to the roadmap, which presented the European Commission intentions for the targeted revision of the CLP regulation:
- Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL)
- ChemSec
- CHEM Trust
- Child Rights International Network (CRIN)
- ClientEarth
- Danish Consumer Council (Forbrugerrådet Tænk)
- Ecologistas en Acción
- European Environmental Bureau (EEB)
- Générations Futures
- Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL)
- PAN Europe
- Réseau Environnement Santé (RES)
- Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF) Germany
The Commission will take into consideration the results of the public consultation to develop its legislative proposals to better protect human health and the environment from harmful chemicals, which are expected in the second half of 2022.
