The EDC-Free Europe campaign has written to the newly-appointed European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety and the Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries to express concerns that endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) do not appear in the draft European Green Deal.

The draft document for the European Green Deal was published by EurActiv on 29 November 2019. EDC-Free Europe campaigners say the announcement of a “strategy on sustainable chemicals” and “a package of regulatory measures by 2021” would certainly not match the level of expectations set by the European Parliament resolution of April 2019, that called for legislative proposals on EDCs by June 2020.

It would also be a serious disappointment for the 467,700 European citizens who signed a petition for more urgent action against harmful EDCs.
